18 months in Canada. Working at a ski resort. Planting trees. Back to Germany. And then: mechanical engineering.

Daniel’s path to MIXACO doesn’t exactly sound like a traditional career plan. But maybe that’s exactly what suits him best.

Daniel is the kind of person who loves trying new things—new places, new people, new challenges. Standing still just isn’t his thing. After completing his apprenticeship as a mechatronics technician and spending several years as a maintenance electrician, he was drawn far away from home. For a year and a half, Canada became his home base. There, he first worked at a ski resort and later planted trees. Two jobs that, at first glance, seem to have little to do with his current work. But on second thought, perhaps they do. After all, both experiences involve adapting to new situations, collaborating with different people, taking on responsibility, and pressing on even when things aren’t comfortable or predictable. These are qualities that also serve him well today at MIXACO.

When Daniel returned to Germany, he heard about MIXACO through friends. They were already working at the company and told him many positive things about the team and their day-to-day work. But for Daniel, something else was crucial: mechanical engineering itself. Although he had gained extensive experience in electrical engineering by then, he had not yet worked directly on machines. MIXACO offered him the opportunity to break into exactly this field. And then there was the prospect of international installation projects. For someone who had already spent 18 months on the other side of the Atlantic, that probably sounded more like an opportunity than a hurdle. Daniel has been part of the MIXACO team as an electrician since October 2025.

Daniel’s day-to-day work is very hands-on. He wires machines, assembles electrical components, assists with commissioning, troubleshoots, and oversees service calls and acceptance inspections. In between, he also performs installation work on the building. What motivates him most is seeing tangible progress. In mechanical engineering, something is created. Piece by piece, individual components come together to form a functioning system. Cable routes are planned, components are assembled, and functions are tested. The end result is a machine that previously consisted only of many individual parts. It is precisely this feeling—of creating something new and seeing the progress of his own work firsthand—that is one of Daniel’s strongest motivators.

Daniel finds machines that aren’t simply built according to a familiar pattern particularly exciting. When unusual features are added or new solutions are required, that’s when it gets interesting for him. Then he has to rethink things. Cable routing might not be possible in the usual way. Existing solutions don’t fit perfectly. Making his own decisions becomes more important. It’s precisely these projects that give Daniel the variety he’s looking for. And perhaps that’s also a nice reflection of his personality. Anyone who enjoys discovering new countries, working in a ski resort, or planting trees in Canada probably has little interest in performing the exact same task every day.

If Daniel had a choice, he would take on service assignments more often than anything else. Not just because of the technology, but also because of the locations. MIXACO operates internationally, which means installations and service assignments can take place anywhere in the world. For Daniel, that’s exactly what makes his job so appealing. New customers, new systems, new situations. And in the end, perhaps even a city or a country he would never have gotten to know if it weren’t for his job. That’s why traveling isn’t just part of his free time—it’s also something he enjoys combining with his profession.

Electrical engineering is, to some extent, a matter of chance. However, Daniel’s path into the technical field didn’t just happen by chance. His father is an electrical engineer himself and sparked his interest in this field at an early age. This early interest later led to an apprenticeship as a mechatronics technician, experience as a plant electrician, and ultimately work on complex mixing systems. Today, Daniel no longer views electrical engineering as just a single field. At MIXACO, he sees how electrical systems, mechanics, design, and control systems come together to form a complete machine. And it is precisely this integration that makes mechanical engineering so exciting for him.the family

Despite all his enthusiasm for technology, there’s one area where Daniel consciously disconnects: music. He plays in a band and describes making music as the moment when he’s truly and completely in the here and now. No machines. No troubleshooting. No next assignment. Just music.

In addition, concerts, travel, and spending time with friends and family are an integral part of his life. He also finds peace outdoors, while hiking or camping. As a result, two things alternate quite consistently in Daniel’s life: on the one hand, physical activity, new experiences, and adventures; on the other hand, moments when his mind simply gets a break.

If you ask Daniel what’s particularly important to him in his work, he’ll quickly mention the team. For him, a good work environment isn’t just a nice bonus—it directly influences how comfortable people feel at work and how well they can perform together. At MIXACO, he’s been particularly impressed by the respectful interactions between managers and employees. He feels taken seriously and values the mutual respect.

Perhaps that is why his own description of what MIXACO means to him is so apt: being part of a good team and working together to create something productive.

Daniel hasn’t been with MIXACO for very long. But when you look at his background, a lot of things already fit together quite well: his passion for technology, his eagerness for new challenges, his interest in other places, and his desire to build something together with great people. We don’t yet know where his next service assignment will take him. But we’re pretty sure he’s looking forward to it.

Mechanical engineering was new. That was exactly what made it interesting.
